Michael Zak is the author of Back to Basics for the Republican Party, the acclaimed history of the Republican Party which celebrates the GOP’s heritage of civil rights achievement. While a Policy Analyst for the House Republican Policy Committee, he wrote the 2005 Republican Freedom Calendar: Celebrating a Century and a Half of Civil Rights Achievement by the Party of Lincoln.
A popular speaker to Republican organizations around the country, Mr. Zak addressed the 2004 Republican state conventions in Wisconsin and Oregon, and recently spoke to the National Federation of Republican Women and the Republican National Hispanic Assembly. Among his topics are The Civil Rights Heritage of our Grand Old Party; Martin Luther King and the Republican Civil Rights Legacy; The Women’s Rights Achievements of our Grand Old Party; Abraham Lincoln, Republican; and Frederick Douglass, Republican.
A native of Chicago and resident of Washington DC, he is the Executive Director of the Lincoln-Reagan Freedom Foundation (www.lincolnreaganfoundation.org). Before writing Back to Basics for the Republican Party, Mr. Zak was a Foreign Service Officer, serving in Mexico and Venezuela, and an international banking analyst based in Chicago and New York.
