President's Message

Kathy Thomas

Welcome to the website for the Chicago Republican Women’s Network! We hope you take this opportunity to learn more about us.

It’s Tough To Be Republican in Chicago

Are you tired of hearing people say they are afraid to speak out as a republican in the City of Chicago?

Take heart, Chicago republicans! Times are changing! CRWN now has more than 100 members with a surge in membership in the last several months. We also have a database of hundreds who have registered with us to keep abreast of republican issues.

Events

Our hard work over the past four years has been paying off with a tremendous increase in activities for Chicago republicans. Below are some highlights.

CRWN has hosted events with:

  • State Treasurer and Party Chairman Judy Baar Topinka
  • Congressman Mark Kirk of the 10th Congressional District
  • Illinois Supreme Court Justice Rita Garman
  • Assistant Minority Leaders in the House of Representatives Pat Lindner and Eileen Lyons
  • Pam McDonough, former Director of DCCA
  • Lori Montana, former Director of the Lottery
  • Kristine Cohn, Secretary's Representative for Region V, US Department of Education

CRWN Social and Volunteer Events:

  • April 15 Tax Freedom Day
  • Cubs game at a Wrigley rooftop
  • Bleacher Bums, a long-running play at The Royal George Theater
  • Volunteered at a fund raiser for George W. Bush with special guest Mary Matalin
  • Tommy Franks, Commander in Chief of the U.S. Central Command
  • Phone banking for President Bush
  • Numerous volunteer activities for Bush and other republican candidates

CRWN Bi-Monthly Activities

  • Cocktails and Controversy
  • Conservative Book Club

CRWN is committed to providing multiple types of events to meet the interests of its members, which we believe is one of the reasons we have been so successful. There is something for everyone to participate in, no matter what your views may be. It is important to work in a positive way to promote republican ideals and help get the vote out.

The Election

It was an important election year, with a close presidential race. As we saw, every vote made a difference and assured President Bush's re-election! The President won 51% of the popular vote - the first time a president won more than 50% of the vote since his father's election in 1988.

We look forward to seeing you at our future events! Have a happy holiday season.

Sincerely,

Kathleen A. Thomas

President
