Kathy Thomas, President

Kathleen A. Thomas, a Chicago-area native, is a vice president of a financial services firm after having been president of her own consulting firm for four years. She has dedicated her extensive career to furthering the goals and objectives of the state and local governments in Illinois. As a municipal bond consultant, her services include the financial planning and analysis of municipal debt and debt-related matters for the state, state agencies and local governments for their capital projects. Since Ms. Thomas began her career in municipal finance in 1983, she has participated in more than $3.7 billion in debt transactions.
In 2002, Ms. Thomas campaigned nearly full-time for county-wide office in Cook County. During that time, she was interviewed by the major Chicago local T.V. networks, CLTV and several suburban newspapers for endorsements. She prepared regular press releases for all county newspapers, network T.V. and cable T.V. Ms. Thomas was successful in scheduling an issue’s forum on the radio with her opponent, who had never debated any of his other opponents for this position.
Ms. Thomas became a firm-named principal of the company where she began her career and advanced their standing to become one of the top financial advisors in the State. In 1992 she established her own firm. She was also recruited to serve as vice president of one of the nation’s leading independent financial advisory firms and was responsible for opening their Chicago office.
Ms. Thomas is actively involved in numerous professional organizations related to local governments. These organizations include the Illinois Municipal League, the Illinois Government Finance Officer’s Association, the Illinois City Manager’s Association, the Will County Governmental League, the Illinois Association of School Business Officials and the City Club.
Ms. Thomas is a life-long Republican. Her involvement includes participation on numerous campaigns on multiple levels. Ms. Thomas was the highest vote-getter of the county-wide candidates in the March 19, 2002 election as well as in the March, 2000 primary election for the 7th Congressional District delegate slate for George W. Bush. She currently serves as the President of the Chicago Republican Women’s Network. She is a member of the Illinois and National Federation of Republican Women, the 42nd Ward Republican Organization and the 10th Congressional District Republican Women’s Organization. She serves as chair for the Sponsorship Committee for the IFRW. Ms. Thomas completed the Illinois Lincoln Series in the class of 1998.
Ms. Thomas lives in the River North area in Chicago. She is a graduate of the University of Michigan with a bachelor’s degree with an emphasis in business.
